Welcome to Toucan Lane

Take it easy and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the Costa Rican rainforest at Toucan Lane. If you want to stay somewhere off the beaten track and away from corporate tourism, this is the place for you. Our suites are individually themed, allowing for guests to unplug and connect with nature in a very homely setting. We offer dining with a breathtaking view of Lake Arenal. Enjoy a cocktail poolside, rent a kayak, or take a short walk to the lake or visit nearby hot springs.

Toucan Lane is located 9 kilometers southwest of Nuevo Arenal, Costa Rica on the road to La Fortuna. It is situated in a convenient location for enjoying the many activities around the lake including the Arenal Volcano, hiking, hot springs, zip lining, etc.

Meet the Owners

Your hosts are Canadians named Joanne Lane and Simon Ibbotson.

We purchased the property in late 2019 with the idea of providing friendly, accommodating service to others while serving fresh, delicious food and improving the experiences people have while travelling.

Like many others, COVID caused a long delay in bringing our visions to reality but, it did allow the time necessary to upgrade and renovate the entire property.

The name “Toucan Lane” was chosen because we live beside one of the few lanes taking you to Lake Arenal and we noticed a lot of Toucans on the property. We hope you will love this place and the artwork all over the property and we look forward to meeting all of you, trusting that you will enjoy your time here with us.
