Frequently Asked Questions

Is it easy to get there from San José?

If you have just arrived at the airport and have arranged a car hire you can drive here in less than 4 hours. However if you don't plan to arrange driving and wish to get here by other means, taxis are expensive. However the public bus system is quite reliable and very cheap by comparison if you don't mind a longer journey.

We recommend that you stay overnight in the area close to the airport and Alajuela city. There is a bus from Alajuela North Bus Station (close to the airport) directly to Ciudad Quesada. From there you can get a bus going to Tilarán which takes you directly to the bus stop outside Toucan Lane.

Do you cater for LGBTQ+ customers?

Yes! We do not discriminate at Toucan Lane. All people are welcome as long as they are respectful to the staff and other customers.

Is it safe to drink tap water?

Yes. The water here comes directly from a fresh water spring and is perfectly safe to drink.

Is it easy to access shops from your location?

Yes there are three towns within less than an hour's drive from here - Nuevo Arenal, La Fortuna and Tilaràn, which will cater for most of your shopping needs.
